About the track:
In both the video for the song and a live performance of “Dolphin” on The Late Show With David Letterman in December 1994, Prince (who was then identified solely by his unpronounceable symbol) appeared with the word “SLAVE” scrawled on his right cheek, a reference to his ongoing fight for artistic freedom and public battle with his label, Warner Bros. Records.

As with the song “Endorphinmachine,” “Dolphin” was written and recorded well in advance of the release of 1995’s The Gold Experience and had already become a familiar part of Prince and the NPG’s live shows by the time the album version was available to listeners. 

The lyrics for “Dolphin” find Prince exploring spirituality and the idea of reincarnation, and the video depicts him in a similarly reflective mood, perched on a satin bed with his iconic gold symbol guitar as members of the NPG perform behind him. 

The video for “Dolphin” was released on September 30, 1994, almost a full year before The Gold Experience, and made history as the first video to be played on VH1 Europe. The video was later offered as a download to subscribers of Prince’s pioneering NPG Music Club in 2001, released as part of the NPG Music Club Edition #11.

Ascoltare il suono di una chitarra uscita dalla bottega e dalle mani di Antonio Stradivari: il concerto del chitarrista barocco Rolf Lislevand, in programma sabato 10 maggio all'Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi del Museo del Violino di Cremona, rappresenta un'occasione davvero unica nel suo genere.

Protagonista del concerto è infatti la chitarra Sabionari: costruita da Antonio Stradivari nel 1679, in ottimo stato di conservazione, è l'unica chitarra del Maestro, fra le cinque giunte a noi, ad essere regolarmente utilizzata ancora oggi per le attività musicali; lo strumento appartiene ad una collezione privata ed è esposto nel Museo nell'ambito del progetto "friends of Stradivari", un network internazionale di collezionisti e appassionati che collabora con il Museo per la conservazione e la valorizzazione del patrimonio artistico di strumenti stradivariani.

Irish guitarist Damien Kelly made his first major breakthrough in the Irish classical music scene with his debut EP “Jolt” in collaboration with composer Ciarán Farrell. It went straight to number one in the Irish iTunes classical chart in 2011. In 2012 he released a full-length album “New Frontiers” under the same collaboration, which is frequently played on national radio. Damien has performed as a soloist at Kings College, Cambridge, the Irish Embassy, London, the American Irish Historical Society, NYC and the National Concert Hall, Dublin. He has won national competitions in Ireland including the Senior Guitar and Contemporary Music Centre competitions at the Feis Ceoil. He has taught at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Dundalk Institute of Technology and currently is the Music Department Head at the Smith School NYC. He also teaches at Church Street School for Music and Art, New Song Studio and Ezra Guitar. 

He completed a BA in Applied Music at Dundalk Institute of Technology in 2009 while studying with Marion Hyland at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and a MMus in performance in 2010 studying with Dr. John Feeley at the DIT Conservatory of Music. In 2014 he was awarded a scholarship by Manhattan School of Music to take part in their professional studies program, where he studied with Mark Delpriora. Upon finishing his studies at Manhattan School of Music he was awarded the Segovia Augustine Award of Excellence, given to one graduating guitarist each year.
